Gynaecomastia

Gynecomastia, or breast enlargement in men, is a common condition that, according to some statistics, affects up to 30-65 percent of men. Some cases of gynecomastia are very mild and unnoticeable, while others may develop completely feminine breasts weighing hundreds of grams. The condition becomes more pronounced with age and weight gain. ‍

To whom is gynecomastia treatment suitable for?

Gynecomastia correction is suitable for men who experience psychological or physical discomfort caused by enlarged breasts.

How is gynecomastia treated?

Gynecomastia can usually be treated without surgery using WAL water jet liposuction, scalpel and open surgery are rarely needed. Except for the youngest patients, the procedure can typically be performed under local anaesthesia, which is enhanced with painkillers and sedatives administered intravenously if necessary.

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, and the patient can go home immediately afterwards. During follow-up care, the upper body is supported with a support bra, which should be worn for 2-3 weeks. Typically, recovery is rapid and pain is minimal. There is little bruising, and postoperative problems such as bleeding and infections are rare. Depending on the nature of your work, you may need up to three weeks of sick leave.

The doctor will evaluate the results of the procedure after 3-4 months. If the breasts are very uneven from the beginning, minor trimming may be necessary after a few months to optimize the results. Once the scar has matured, the pectoral muscles will look natural.

The price of the procedure includes 1-2 follow-up visits with the doctor, one piece of necessary support fabric, and a possible stitch removal/wound care visit with our nurse.
