Having performed breast lifts for 35 years, I rarely encounter anything completely new in them to pursue. The prerequisite for pursuing something new is that the procedure must be safer, less visible, or produce better and more natural results. Therefore, it is possible to continue using old methods for a long time, as new developments are rare or only seemingly better. Ten years ago, in our search for better and more durable breast implants, we became the first clinic in Finland to start using Motiva implants. Over the years, only one of these implants have ruptured and only one has hardened. The implant is soft and natural. In hindsight, it is easy to say that we found what we were looking for.
However, it is time for another innovation: the conditions are right, and something better is available. The new Motiva Ergonomix 2 implant is softer, extremely durable, and even more natural. The implant can be inserted into the breast through a sterile plastic tube, allowing for a very small incision. A 300-milliliter implant can be inserted through an incision measuring only two centimeters without breaking. The implant is also less prone to rippling, so it can be placed between the muscle and breast tissue without damaging the normal support structures of the breast. This also helps the implant stay in place better. After the procedure, the small incision is closed with dissolvable stitches. You can go home on the day of the surgery. Motiva recently received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), so our American colleagues will finally have access to the implant too. According to a new study, Motiva implants cause problems in less than one percent of patients. This is also consistent with our own experience with Motiva implants.
