Hardly anyone has ended up in intensive care or died due to a lack of cosmetic surgery. So, is cosmetic surgery unnecessary? This view is rather narrow and has its roots in traditional medicine. Usually, surgeons repair defects or problems that, if left untreated, could endanger physical health.
Aesthetic surgery corrects physical problems, but at the same time improves body image and relationships with the surrounding world. At its best, it improves quality of life. Surgery has even been shown to alleviate the symptoms of mental illness. The key point is that an externally visible defect may be very small, but extremely significant to the patient, meaning that even a minor correction can significantly improve their well-being.
If your partner thinks that your face resembles your breasts, which are like flat pancakes, and that you need plastic surgery, close your ears and send him to a psychiatrist. Maybe electricity would help?
The other extreme considers cosmetic surgery to be frivolous and a waste of money. On average, the less you know, the more you think you know. This group needs information, but the problem is hard mental resistance, meaning that the real information does not get through. Sometimes guiding them is like teaching rocket science to a sheep—that's how rigid their thinking is.
Cosmetic surgery is a personal matter. If you feel that something about your body is not right, has deteriorated over time, or you suffer from a congenital or acquired disability, discuss the matter with your plastic surgeon. A consultation is not a commitment to surgery, but rather a discussion with your doctor. The problem will be weighed from all possible angles, and possible treatments and their disadvantages will be considered. Non-surgical options will also be weighed.
Based on this, a joint decision is made as to whether the potential benefits of surgery are likely to outweigh the potential risks. When undergoing surgery, the need for the procedure must be clear. Sometimes, discussing the matter and deciding not to operate is the right course of action and frees the mind from unnecessary deliberation.
