Removal of vascular changes with laser

The blood vessels and changes in them can be treated with a laser.

What types of vascular changes can be treated with laser therapy?

Lasers can be used to remove hemangiomas, vascular lesions such as port wine stains, telangiectasias, varicose veins, and red vascular tumors from the skin, all of which are various vascular lesions visible in the small veins on the skin's surface.

Fotona's long-pulse Nd:YAG laser is ideal for treating these changes, as the laser pulse penetrates 5-6 millimeters into the skin. Studies show that over 75 percent of deep vascular tumors disappear when treated with a long-pulse laser.

How are vascular lesions removed with a laser?

The treatment targets oxyhemoglobin inside the blood vessel, so the effect is only visible in the desired blood vessel. The laser energy is absorbed into the blood, which heats the blood vessel walls, causing tissue damage and the disappearance of the lesion.

Several treatment sessions may be needed to achieve the desired result – often three to four times. The procedure is performed without anaesthesia, and the skin is cooled with cold air before starting. After treatment, the skin will be red and must be protected from sunlight to avoid pigmentation disorders.

The price of the procedure depends on the size of the area to be treated.
